Sometimes our customers export their PDF files to Word, and the end result is an image of the PDF document that is inserted into the Word file. The user cannot edit the text in this Word file.
This scenario happens because of the way the PDF file has been created. If the PDF file has been created from a scanner that did not use OCR (optical character recognition), then the PDF document is essentialy inserting an image file of whatever was scanned into a PDF document. OCR is a software program that can identify letters and numbers in an image, and transform these shapes into selectable, searchable text.
PDF Pro 10 currently does not have an OCR tool built into it as it is somewhat complicated to develop, but we are doing our best to have it included in future releases. Stay tuned!
